Strangely enough, even though my last comment was on not wanting to do illustration, I now am researching it.
I've had the opportunity to return to school this year. I'm re-entering as a mature student full time at a near by college. We'll see how that works out. I'm the process of applying to different colleges. I need to get a soundboard of practical certificates here in the UK before I can apply to university. I learned that the hard way by applying to University first and them saying they refused me because I didnt know enough about the career path i wanted tog o into. Which is fair enough since I didnt.
Rose is now 15 months old. Natasha is almost 3. She'll start pre-school this year. I am really excited for her.
I've decided this is a good time to return to school. The school I want to apply to is doing free courses for mature returning students. I feel like Charlie with a Golden Ticket.
I'm just trying to take charge of my life and not let it pass me by. I'm trying my best in all arts, and i'm keenly interested in illustration and animation art. I used to think these art forms were not as note worthy as fine art, but I realize now how wrong I was. that was a bias I finally shed stemming back to my own parents view on art since they cant do art. And I've realized that artists tend to be elitists in whatever field they choose. Its all so specialized. I've also come to the conclusion if i want a stable income then I need to get a graphics art, or illustration or animation degree of some sort. These are also very technical drawing lighting and color degrees and will make me a better balanced oil painter if I want to return to that. But its not the same the other way around I feel. Becoming better at oils does not make me better at doing flash or photoshop, or at technical drawing skills. But learning more of the technical things will apply nicely to the fine art world in my oppinion.
I havent decided which area of art i want to persue, but at least now i'm looking at all my options and not hemming them in from the start.
FYI i'm no longer LDS anymore either. I find that ironic since when i started this account at 16/17 I identified my whole world with the LDS church. Strange where life takes you.
Anyways enough of my rambling. Enjoy my art work. I will post more as I make more...
